Get to know Alaska as few ever do. Denali National Park and Preserve is home to North America’s tallest mountain, Mount McKinley. Standing at 20,300 feet, Mt. McKinley is so large it commands its own weather patterns. Two full days in Denali is recommended because there's so much to see and do. You've traveled all this way and this is one of your top priorities. Why not make the most you can of it?

Going to Alaska without seeing Glacier Bay is an incredible mistake. Only a few cruise lines will spend the time and money for their all day cruise.
Rated as the number one glacier experience, the park is a Biosphere Reserve and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Experience the thunder of Margerie Glacier, which is 1 mile wide and 25 stories tall! Hear the thunder roar as ice calves from the glaciers and get your cameras ready to see killer and humpback whales and other wildlife that make this scenic tour an unforgettable event. If you go to Alaska, you must cruise Glacier Bay; it is a big mistake if you don't.

Denali needs at least two nights! If you are reserving your travel with a cruise line, make sure they include the Tundra Wilderness Tour, which is guided by the National Park Service. The Natural History Tour that is also available is just not enough to see one of the biggest reasons people come to Alaska. Definitely remember your camera on this trip, as there are so many things to see at Denali National Park. You will take quite a few pictures!
If you are more adventurous, both flight-seeing around Mt. McKinley (Denali) or white water rafting make wonderful trips while you are in the park. For those dog lovers, the Homestead Husky Farm allows you to hold the husky puppies as you wait for the exhibits. You’ll have a hard time giving them back!

On the way to Fairbanks from Denali, you will see some of the most dramatic scenery available in the corridor, which is why we recommend that you see it from the train. Only a couple of cruise lines offer complete railroad service from Anchorage to Fairbanks and it is highly recommended that you take the train and a double decked car!
This is very important because what does double decked mean? Dining and amenities are on the first floor, and the second floor is completely designed for viewing landscape and wildlife. Comfortable chairs and windows on the ceilings and walls mean that you have the largest opportunity to see Alaska. For those that need an elevator, one is provided. The meals are in the $15-$20 range during this first class, wilderness experience.
