Naples is the big city at the foot of Mt. Vesuvius, which by the way, is still considered an active volcano and is constantly monitored.  The volcano is considered one of the most dangerous volcanoes in the world because of the population of 3,000,000 that live nearby and its tendency for explosive eruptions.  When this volcano blows again, there will be quite a bit of destruction.

Skip this city, but take the excursion to Pompei.  If you can include the village of Sorrento in the tour, you will be pleased.

Certainly try the Limoncello (made from lemons).  Buy a bottle to take home and if it is too strong, it mixes well with 7-up or tonic water.  The restaurants in the shopping district offer great Italian pizza and a beer at a reasonable price.
