Strait of Messina & Sicily PDF Print E-mail

The Strait of Messina, between Sicily and Italy is pretty narrow.  Take a look at the roadway bridges on the coast of Italy while you're there.  If you think the US is #1 in building roads, think again.  Italians are masters at bridges and tunnels.

On Sicily, be sure to visit Tarominia.  This city is one of Sicily's top travel destinations.  It has remnants of both Greek and Roman culture, a medieval quarter and castle ruins, and great shops and restaurants.  Be sure to take the road, the bridge, the hill and the elevator to this mountaintop village.  At the top, you'll see views of the coast and Mt. Etna volcano.  Get your camera ready, as this one is a wow!

The corner grocery at the post office is a great place to buy wine - maybe you can enjoy it at one of the local beaches prior to getting back on the ship.
